Veneers – A Gorgeous, Custom Smile

Are you unhappy with your smile? If you have front teeth that are discolored, chipped, cracked, broken, misshapen, or too small, you may benefit from the services of an accomplished cosmetic dentist like Dr. Peter F. Hazim in Allen, Texas. Cosmetic dentistry has been transformed by the use of veneers. At one time, the only way to cover a damaged tooth was through using a crown. However, now a quality crafted layer cover for the tooth in tooth-colored porcelain can be adhered to the tooth for a long-lasting and more natural look. The result is a front row of teeth with smooth, beautiful surfaces that make you proud to show off your smile and confident in talking to new people.

Because these veneers are a custom creation to fit your teeth and smile, the process is two-fold. In the first visit to Dr. Hazim’s office, he will take an impression of your teeth and determine tooth shade. He also assesses your facial structure and features to ascertain the most flattering shape for your tooth. Next, he will clean and prepare the area to receive the veneer. Usually a temporary veneer is provided for you to wear until your next visit to protect the area and help you get used to your new tooth shape. In between the two visits, Dr. Hazim will send your impression to a skilled ceramist. This professional will hand-craft a gorgeous, custom veneer that fits your tooth snugly and follows the curvature of your natural teeth.

When you go back for your second visit, Dr. Hazim will finish the fitting process by placing the veneer on your tooth and performing and trimming that needs to be done prior to permanently adhering it to the tooth. Before the bonding process, the teeth will need to be cleaned and polished. On the teeth where the veneers will be placed, he will need to lightly etch the surface so the veneer bonds more soundly. A bonding cement is applied to the tooth. The veneer is put into place. Then, a special light is applied that cures the cements and strengthens the bond between veneer and tooth.

Dr. Hazim will then assess your bite and make any final adjustments. He may want you to return for a follow-up visit after a period of time. He can help you attain the beautiful smile you have always dreamed of through the use of veneers.
